At the NY Salt Room, our mission is to promote healthy lifestyles, decreases the risk of disease, and enhance the quality of life. We help people, young and old, who are suffering from various respiratory illnesses such as allergies, asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, hay-fever, COPD, pneumonia, cold or cough. We are focusing on the source of the problem and not just suppressing the symptoms like medicines usually do.
By the end of the 20th century the number of cases involving asthma, allergies and other respiratory illnesses has experienced an extreme growth, mainly due to the spreading of the ‘western lifestyle’. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is trying their best to protect NY’s natural resources and the environment. However, pollution is unavoidable. Every 1 out of 3 people suffer from an allergy and 1 of 13 is diagnosed with asthma. There are over 20 million asthma sufferers in the USA. New York has the highest number of asthma cases reported yearly.
The NY Salt Room is not just for people who are sick; it also prevents diseases and strengthens the immune system. We are all exposed to air that is highly polluted therefore it is very important to keep the lungs healthy and clean. Having healthy lungs is one of the keys to healthy and better living.
This natural treatment is already widely used in Europe and Israel who discovered that salt mines and salt caves have a good influence on respiratory problems. Researchers and scientists have developed a unique method to reproduce the microclimate of salt caves and to apply the therapy under artificial circumstances in a closed room. The principle of this unique method is that the natural microclimate of the salt mines is replicated with the help of a dry saline generator.
