What is Salt Therapy
Salt therapy (Halotherapy) is a completely natural respiratory therapy where dry salt aerosol is passively inhaled in a specially constructed salt room. It is a drug-free high diffusion saline aerosol microclimate treatment. Salt therapy is a completely non-invasive, natural treatment with no side effects to harm the body in any way. The therapy involves breathing in microscopic salt particles which act as a natural disinfectant and clear the lungs, allowing the patient to breathe more easily.
Salt Therapy for Children
Salt Therapy is a 100% drug free treatment with no artificial elements. Children are highly receptive to this type of therapy. It is clinically proven that natural healing methods are a lot more effective with children because they react more intensively than adults do. Children need help to clear toxins and viruses because their lungs do not fully develop this ability until around the age of nine. If your child is suffering from asthma, frequent colds, allergies, ear infection, or weak immune system, salt therapy helps reduce inflammation, loosen up mucous, and kills bacteria.
Studies have found that 90-95% of children have no symptoms of respiratory illness after 3 – 4 sessions of salt therapy.
Please note that there is no age limit for the Salt Therapy.
History
Salt therapy has been around for centuries in Eastern Europe. In 1843 Dr. Botchkovsky from Poland discovered that the environment inside salt mines had a therapeutic effect on respiratory diseases. Speleotherapy (salt cave therapy) was initiated after observing the remarkably low occurrence of respiratory illnesses in salt mine workers who were regularly exposed to air saturated with saline dust. Many salt mines in Eastern Europe were used as medical resorts for patients with lung diseases. In the 1990’s, artificial salt caves were developed by lining rooms with salt bricks and halo generators blowing dry aerosol of salt into these rooms. These rooms replicate the microclimate of natural salt mines and caves.
How it Works
A typical salt room is built with 10 tons of natural rock salt containing 98% sodium chloride. Sodium chloride is a substance that absorbs moisture and has cleansing and disinfectant properties. For patients with breathing problems, such as a concentration of mucus in their sinus tracts, the salt penetrates inwards and draws the fluid out, while killing all the bacteria and soothing the respiratory system.
Immune Booster
In the salt room itself there are no microbes or allergens, which gives the body’s immune system a chance to relax during the treatment. The salt particles also convert positive ions into negative ions, which is the key to strengthening the body’s immune system, better equipping it to work again when the therapy is over.
It is not only the purity of the air in the salt rooms that have such healing effects, but also its resounding vibration, that activates our self-healing and self-regulating powers. When our body is sick and lacking its natural frequency, salt can bring us back into our original, balanced state.
Sessions
In order for halotherapy treatments to be effective and for patients to obtain optimum results, it is recommended for patients to sign up for a 10 - 12 session course for children and 12 – 18 session course for adults. It is found to be beneficial that patients obtain treatment twice a week with a 48 hour break between sessions to see best results.
Service Overview
At the NY Salt Room, we have a luxurious facility and a relaxed atmosphere to accommodate your needs. The NY Salt Room offers diversified services. It includes three comfortable salt rooms, two for adults and one for children. A child’s session is 45 minutes and adult’s session is 1 hour. There is not specific attire that needs to be worn in the salt room. Patients get treatment with their own clothing and we provide booties that go over the shoes.
Children’s Salt Room
We have the perfect children’s salt room which includes toys, books, and games. It accommodates all a child’s needs. Children can enjoy the session without being aware that they are receiving a treatment. The room has a wide window that parents who choose to stay outside can observe their child. Anybody accommodating a child under 8 years old is free of charge. Halotherapy is suitable for children and infants of all ages.
Adult’s Salt Room
We have two beautiful adults’ rooms which includes zero gravity chairs, relaxed background music, and peaceful environment for relaxation. Each room accommodates 3 – 5 people. There is an option for booking a VIP room for your privacy.
Health Bar
We provide a full line of organic juice bar including the freshest fruits and vegetables. There is a choice of smoothies, shakes, and juices. We grow our wheat grass and serve it fresh on the spot.

Day Spa
